Shimla → Dhaula (1,550 m)
Drive from Shimla to Dhaula. Overnight stay in tents.
Highlights: Scenic drive through the lower Himalayas, beginning of the adventure.
Dhaula → Sewa (2,000 m)
Trek from Dhaula to Sewa, following the Rupin River, through terraced fields and traditional villages.
Highlights: Trek alongside the gushing Rupin River, experience local village life and architecture.
Sewa → Gosangu (2,800 m)
Continue trekking along the Rupin River, crossing a few bridges and entering denser forests. The trail becomes steeper as you gain altitude.
Highlights: Lush green forests, traditional wooden houses, views of cascading waterfalls.
Gosangu → Saruwas (3,350 m)
Ascend to Saruwas, where the landscape opens up to vast alpine meadows. This day involves some steep climbs.
Highlights: Beautiful alpine scenery, expansive meadows ideal for camping, first clear views of snow-capped peaks.
Saruwas → Upper Waterfall (4,000 m)
Continue ascending to the dramatic Upper Waterfall campsite, situated very close to the Rupin Pass. The trek today offers spectacular views of the Rupin Waterfall.
Highlights: Close-up views of the impressive Rupin Waterfall, transitioning into a truly glacial landscape, crucial acclimatization before the pass crossing.
Upper Waterfall → Rupin Pass (4,650 m) → Ronti Gad (4,000 m)
This is the challenging summit day. Begin a steep ascent to Rupin Pass, often involving traversing snowfields. From the pass, enjoy stunning views before a thrilling descent into the Buri Bhati Valley to Ronti Gad campsite.
Highlights: Conquering Rupin Pass, exhilarating descent on snow or scree, panoramic views of the Dhauladhar and Kinnaur ranges, dramatic landscape change.
Ronti Gad → Sangla (2,600 m) → Shimla (Drive)
Descend from Ronti Gad through the beautiful Baspa Valley to Sangla, a picturesque village in Kinnaur. From Sangla, a vehicle will take you back to Shimla, concluding your memorable Rupin Pass Trek.
